25 February 2012 – Muscat, Oman: Today Alive Entertainment and HiFM announced that tickets are now available to buy for the much-anticipated Snow Patrol concert, to be held on 11 March in Muscat’s Intercontinental Hotel Gardens.

Organised by Oman’s only international artist promoter, Alive Entertainment, in collaboration with HiFM, the best-selling international indie rock band will come to Muscat for the first time as part of their Fallen Empires tour.

Fans can buy fan pit tickets to get in the thick of the on-stage action for RO 50 per person, or be part of the fantastic atmosphere with a general admission ticket at RO 25.  Tickets are available from the Alive Entertainment Box Office in Madinat Qaboos, and from the following outlets: Bose Qurum City Centre; OUA outlet, Madinat Qaboos; Al Ghazal at the Intercontinental Muscat.

The five-piece band originally hails from Northern Ireland and has seen international success with their era-defining hits. The band will showcase material from their current album Fallen Empires, as well as performing their hits from their acclaimed albums Final Straw, Eyes Open and A Hundred Million Suns.

Gordon Mackenzie, managing director, Alive Entertainment, said:

“We are so excited to be bringing Snow Patrol to Muscat for the first time. This is sure to be one concert you don’t want to miss, so come down to see us in MQ or pick up your ticket at one of the outlets, and we look forward to seeing you on the night!”

Darren Shortt, Station Manager, HIFM, said:

“This is a great event that will certainly rock the capital. With James Blunt and Snow Patrol in Muscat so far in 2012, it’s set to be an awesome year for gigs!”

Formed as a three-piece band ‘Shrug’ in 1994 at the University of Dundee in Scotland, the band went through several transition phases before their big break in 2003. Success came with the release of Final Straw under Polydor Records with whom they remain signed.

Final Straw opened the band to mainstream success, but also to international fame: the North American tour for the album in 2004 saw album sales top 250,000 copies and reach number 26 on the US album charts.

Eyes Open, their second studio album, was released in 2006 and included the UK and US hit ‘Chasing Cars’ -- a beautifully melodic track with haunting lyrics. The following year the band topped their album success by contributing to the soundtrack for the feature film Spiderman 3 with the song ‘Signal Fire’.

Studio album A Hundred Million Suns and compilation album Up To Now followed in 2008 and 2009, leading the way for the band’s sixth studio album release with Fallen Empires. This album has taken a slightly different musical turn, but retains the lyrical genius of lead singer Gary Lightbody and the strong melodies that the band is known for – the reason behind the 11 million album sales that the band has made to date.

Band members include:

  • Gary Lightbody – lead vocals, rhythm guitar
  • Nathan Connolly – lead guitar, backing vocals
  • Paul Wilson – bass guitar, backing vocals
  • Jonny Quinn – drums, percussion
  • Tom Simpson – keyboards, samples
