Muscat: We live in a world now where the mobile phone has become an integral part of our lives. People now demand more features and applications on their devices which means their appetite for data consumption is increasing. COMEX 2013, Oman’s leading IT and Telecom Show taking place from 25th -29th March at the Oman International Exhibition Centre spells out why consumers can look forward to as a result from various trends cropping up in the telecom industry.
2013 will mark the beginning of the 4G era which will see 4G-LTE networks being rolled out by operators in emerging market. This means that users can expect high data capacity and greater uploading speed. To keep up with 4G consumers will also be on the receiving end of a whole new range of devices like smartphones, tablets and wireless cards which allow them to take the maximum advantage of 4G features. The market for smartphones will increase over demand for laptops, and this device adoption will be spearheaded by women. Personal smartphones are increasingly being used for work, to send emails, plan business trips, find locations and more making up what we call the BYOD market (Bring your own broadband to work.) As consumers adopt these new devices making the internet mobile, they will download more content from Facebook, Youtube and Twitter and engage in cloud computing. One of the top priorities of operators this year is managing the network efficiently in emerging markets.
Held under the patronage of e.oman and organised by OITE Trade Fairs, COMEX 2013 invites consumers to get in touch with mobile operators from around the region and avail of various offers and promotions and be a part of emerging telecom trends.
