Dhofar University (DU) is a private, not-for-profit institution of higher education in Salalah, Sultanate of Oman, modeled after the American system of higher education. It offers two-year diploma and four-year bachelor degrees that follow the credit hour system and uses English as the medium of instruction. The university also offers a Foundation Program (FP) for students who are not sufficiently prepared to join the university programs.
DU houses three colleges: College of Arts and Applied Sciences (CAAS), College of Commerce and Business Administration (CCBA) and College of Engineering (CE). These colleges offer 28 academic programs in different fields of specialization, representing 17 diploma programs, 23 bachelor degree programs and one master degree program. In addition, DU has the Continuing Education Center (CEC) that offers a variety of courses and training programs for executives and employees of government agencies and commercial firms and for adult learners in the local community.
"Our Continuing Education Center offers working personnel, unemployed individuals and candidates seeking licensure and professional certification, the chance to consider new career paths, career enhancement options and opportunities for certification, training and retraining. Since students must consider employment options after pursuing their higher studies they may also find CEC services helpful" concludes Ba Omar.
Organised by OITE Trade Fairs, under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education, GHEDEX 2013 will enable local and international colleges and universities to take higher education to a whole new degree by showcasing the latest courses, programmes, institution options and career platforms to students, parents and visitors.
