Mumtaz Mahal Qurum -Indian Restaurant PDF Print E-mail
Mumtaz Mahal: 24605907

Top of Qurm Park waterfall.

The menu of Mumtaz is pretty extensive, in addition to their starters they also serve soups, dry tandoor grilled dishes and curry. There are vegetarian stuff in all sections of the menu and a lot of fish and lobster main courses as well. Spicy dishes are labeled with a small drawing of a chili to warn those who cannot handle spicy food.

This popular restaurant has won Best Indian restaurant at Oman Today Restaurant Awards six times. The restaurant is smartly decorated in a palette of crimson and gold, and has a charismatic live band that plays unobtrusively in the corner, but what Mumtaz Mahal has that no other place can compete with is location – and the Terrace Barbecue takes advantage of the setting with a fresh menu and concept that involves picking at plates of kebabs.

Mumtaz is obviously more expensive than the majority of Indian restaurants in town, the starters cost about RO 1.5 to RO 2 each, while vegeterian, chicken, and meat main courses cost RO 2.5 to RO 4, and sea food dishes cost RO 5 to RO 8.

The menu is chalked on a blackboard and meat and vegetables are prepared over the fire. The non-vegetarian grill offers at least eight different kebabs (chicken, quail, lamb and seafood) and costs RO12; vegetarians can pay RO8 for their grill and guests can also have a mix of the two (RO10). Mumtaz Mahal is open 12–3pm and 7–11.45pm; the Terrace is open only at night.

Al Aktham PDF Print E-mail
Al Aktham: 24489292
Al Khuwair, behind OIB HQ

Al Aktham has been serving the city for some time. There are hits and misses with its food, but the service is excellent and the interiors are either charming or dated, depending on the way you see it. The tandoori kebabs are some of the best as most people say, and the fish jalfreizi is another popular dish. Very reasonable prices.

At Al Aktham you can choose from Arabian, Indian, Chinese and Filipino dishes or, if none of that appeals to the tastebuds, there’s Continental too. It’s a good place for a private dinner party in one of the screened rooms.
